Our Food

The food draws from New York energy, Mediterranean ease and the comfort of being genuinely looked after. Head Chef Ella Williams brings her Jamaican heritage and European training to each menu, creating dishes that feel layered, generous and considered.

Head Chef
Ella Williams

Ella comes to No.FortyNine with a career built across some of London’s most interesting kitchens, Hausu, Crispin, Cafe Murano and Cinder among them.

She has also been running her own supper clubs, bringing her Jamaican heritage together with European technique and East Asian influence.

At No.FortyNine, that means menus with real depth and character. Think cornbread madeleines, crab choux buns and a four-cheese chicken parm with hot honey. Dishes that are rooted somewhere, made with precision and served without fuss.

Chef Owner
Jake Finn

Chef Owner Jake Finn trained at restaurants including Coya, La Petite Maison and The Ritz, where he refined his classical French cooking skills.

After a successful few years in private dining and catering, Jake launched a family-style meal delivery service during the Covid-19 pandemic, inspiring the creation of Cinder.

He opened the first restaurant in Belsize Park in 2021, followed by St John's Wood in 2022, with plans to expand the brand further.

Our People

Made by People Who Care
